The first freezer was invented in 1913 by a man called Fred W. Wolf first used an icebox to create a unit for keeping food and drink chilled. It wasn’t until a little later in the 20th century however that freezers and fridges became more efficient and began to look as we recognise them today. Freezers are now an essential piece of commercial kitchen wholesale equipment as they are vital for keeping ingredients and food items at ideally chilled temperatures.
Commercial kitchen freezers come in a variety of types, with under the counter and glass display case, as well as double and triple door options all available. Not all kitchen spaces will be large enough to incorporate a full walk-in fridge, so a commercial freezer is a great way to fit your refrigeration needs into limited space. A well organised freezer is an asset to any commercial kitchen, catering service or restaurant, as it aids in reducing food preparation times and keeps kitchen stress levels low by making it easy to find specific ingredients or items.
In contrast to a domestic freezer, commercial kitchen freezers are made to withstand far higher amounts of use. Unlike their home counterparts that may be opened once or twice in several hours, a commercial refrigerator has to withstand far higher amounts of usage. During peak busy hours, a commercial freezer could be opened several times within an hour and is required to be extra durable and long lasting as a result. Heavy duty compressors therefore mean commercial freezers can endure more impact than home fridges and be sturdier as a result.
